Then I handed them over and the kids at the school are going to finish them with buttons in the middle and pins on the back.  

Well since Blogger is cool enough to delete everyone's last post, and I'm intelligent enough to back up my posts...guess that one is lost forever. Oh well, such is life.

Here's an update on this progress...

In these pictures there are 90...as I write this I have 120.  They need 300, but the kids were doing some at school as well.  They will look much better with the felt and pin backing and center button on them, but for now I'm just getting the time-consuming part done.  

Remember my in progress projects from here? Well, one of them is done.  
Here they are...pretty poms all ready to go on a headband (: 

The pile of them makes me so happy! 
As for the other in progress...well I made a toga out of it for a toga party, but I'm planning on making it into a real dress when I have time between all my final projects/papers. 

Lots of Necklaces

I made a few new necklaces...just experimenting with different styles. P.S. I always feel awkward posting pictures of myself here...so don't laugh (:

 A Bib Necklace

This was just an experiment for me...you can't really see the black rosettes on the black shirt, so it's not a great picture.  But I can't decide how I feel about it yet. 

In other news: Boyfriend is coming this weekend, yay! 

Springtime Headband

In an attempt to use up some more of my rolled roses, I made a headband with some springtime colors. 

The headband is separate from the flowers...which are on a clip, so I can switch it out if I want.  Those colors make me wish it was warmer outside...summer come soon! 

Rolled Roses Tutorial

So I know there might be other tutorials out there on this, but I had a request for one, and I kind of just made it up the first time I did it anyway...so here is mine. 


::Supplies::
-fabric scissors or rotary cutter
-fabric
-hot glue gun (loaded)


Cut a strip of fabric, the longer the strip the bigger the rose.  (Mine for this was 22" x 1.5" but it doesn't need to be perfect). 

Fold the fabric in half

 Tie a knot

 Start to roll the fabric.

 Add a dab of hot glue ever turn or two.

 Keep twisting the fabric and adding glue. (This is a fairly hot-glue heavy project).

 Leave a little bit at the end.

 Cover it in hot glue. 

 Glue to the bottom of the rose.

 And you're finished! 

Some people prefer to use fabric glue, but I feel as though hot glue dries more quickly, so I prefer it.

Recycled Bracelet Tutorial

This is my first tutorial, so I'm sorry if it's rough...I welcome any comments or suggestions you may have for me.

Supplies: 
-three rosettes (or any other embellishments you'd like)
-fabric (plain or patterned, your choice)
-an empty ribbon spool (tear off the circles from the top and bottom, and make sure you can fit your hand through it)

Step 1:
Cut your fabric into strips, about an inch thick (I just eyeballed it, you don't need to be exact)

I had a lot of extras...you can make other rosettes, or more bracelets with them

Step 2:
Put a line of hot glue on the end of the fabric and glue it to the inside of your "bracelet." 

Step 3: 
Wrap your strip around the bracelet. You can hot glue at intervals if you'd like, but I found that mine stayed just fine without it. 

Step 4:
Put a strip of hot glue on the end of your fabric and glue it down.

If you have a space like this uncovered, that's ok, you can cover it with the embellishments.

Step 5: 
Decide how you want your rosettes placed, then hot glue them on. 

(Not the same color as the beginning because I changed my mind)

Step 6:
Admire your finished product on your wrist. 

And there you go!  I think it's far better than throwing out all of your old spools.
