This wasn't in my reading, but I feel it's most appropriate for what has happened this week.

I try to keep my blog happy and crafty, but, well, this is real life.  Please keep praying because that's all we can do.

Have a blessed week.

I am unsure how to say this right now.  I am still in shock, but I think this might be therapeutic, who knows.

There is a family that mine is very close with.  The mom was one of my teachers in 7th grade.  We remained family friends.  I've watched their two little girls since I was I younger than 16 (if you're counting that's over 6yrs).  They are family to me.  This morning something horrible happened.  The dad is a police officer and was killed in the line of duty.  I got the call from my mom about an hour ago and I'm still processing...about to head back home.

You can find the story here.

Please pray for the family, the girls, the Walker Police department and the family's friends.  If you don't pray, please send all the good thoughts and love you can.

Men vs. Food

Yes, I realize the title says "men."  If you've never seen the show Man vs. Food, you should, at least once.  It's a bit disturbing sometimes.

I went down to visit J for our anniversary and his birthday, and a few of our good friends from home came down for his birthday as well.  We wanted to visit one of the places from Man vs. Food, and we chose here

At first we were going to visit just to have lunch and say we were there...and then the boys realized that this sandwich
(by the way, you can only see half the sandwich in this picture) was only about $9.  Okay, I mean, you're probably going to spend about that much on a normal meal anyway, right?  So why not just go all out and do the challenge.  about a 4lb sandwich and 1lb of 30min.

The guys trying to figure out a strategy

They put fries on the sandwich so they could get more down at one time.

In the middle of the challenge.

And the happy we only had normal sized meals.

Sad that they had this much left over in the end.  Though I was happy that I didn't have a sick boy to take care of from eating all of that ;)

Part of the "Wall of Fame" for those who finished.

If you want to see how Adam did it on Man Vs. Food, watch this.  (Go to 4:00)

Our waitress told us that someone had come in the week before and finished it in under 4min.  That completely nauseates me; I am so glad that our boys didn't attempt that ridiculous record.

Have you ever tried an eating challenge?  (I have not, only witnessed an attempt).

Muse Monday: 15

This weekend I got to come home for fall break...which was perfect because tomorrow it's little sister's 16th birthday!  More on her party later.

For now, here's what's been inspiring me lately.

What's been your muse lately?

3 Story Antique Store

Okay, way overdue, but here are the pictures from when boyfriend visited and we visited the antique store.  3 stories of fabulousness, room after room after room.  We've definitely got to go back.

Lovely fabrics.  Mostly tablecloths and things.

This is what every place looked like...packed with stuff.

Music for pianos that play themselves.  I think a roll of this would make a really cool art piece laid out, we just couldn't find a song we liked enough.

Sewing machine (:

These little guys made me smile.

A fair amount of Pyrex, but none that I really loved.

An old postcard.  Background story, this place is in Blissfield, a small town near my school.  The picture on this postcard is a place we used to go when I was younger, when we lived in Gaylord.  So of course, I had to get it.

The only other purchase I made was this old map of "Eastern United States."  I plan on framing it someday.  I really like maps.

I think we spent about 2hrs in here...seriously, they just flew by.  Next time I'll take more pictures.

And then we went to some garage sales.
10cents each for these mat frames.  25 for the buttons.  Couldn't pass them up.

Bracelets and a pair of earrings.  Less than a dollar total.

J and I at the antique shop.

I swear we're like an old married couple, but we love it.

Can't wait to thrift again (:
