What I Wore Wednesday: 4 & 5

As I said before, it's finals week this week.  Which means last week and this week has been all papers and projects and barely any fun time.  And I've been slacking on pictures...so I'm combining the two weeks...so there is quite a few.

 Thursday: class, teaching Head Start
earrings: The Freckled Flower Shop
top: School Bookstore
jeans: American Eagle (all my jeans are from here)
flats: Target
 Friday: Greek Awards Banquet

dress: Express
sweater: Macy's
belt: England
shoes: Payless
Sunday: Panhel meeting, Alpha Phi Senior Ceremony

top: Express
skirt: TJ Maxx
belt: Target
shoes: England
Tuesday: class, teaching Head Start

tank: New York and Co
sweater: see above
necklace: made by me!
shoes: Target
Wednesday: class, last day in kindergarten

dress: Kohl's
sweater: H&M
belt: England
leggings: Kohl's
boots: gift
Saturday: homework, brunch with friends, homework

top: The Limited
Saturday: homework, brunch with friends, homework

shirt: In support of a teacher/family friend fighting breast cancer
leggings: Kohl's
Now, I know the leggings as pants thing is a big controversy, but personally, I think they can be cute.  And I was in the library almost all day doing homework so I wanted to be comfortable and I never wear sweats out of the room. So you may hate it, but I think it's kind of cute.

Conclusion:
1. I need dress boots. I know mine don't match with everything, but when it's cold, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!
2. Summertime needs to come soon...as much as I love my cardigans, I'm sick of wearing them over everything just because I have to.
3. The spacing on blogger really frustrates me. A lot.

Let Go of Fear

Lately, I've loved gathering inspiration from other blogs (and my new love, Pinterest) but I've become a little intimidated by what I see - incredible projects that I'm almost afraid to tackle for fear of failure.  And then I stumbled upon this post called "You. Can. Sew." at Whipstich.  And it helped, and I hope that you go read it and get as much encouragement as I did!
Therefore, I'm going to link up to some pictures of a few projects I'd like to tackle this summer...without fear.

There are, of course, many more.  But I'll leave you with those for now.  Go out and create because you can and you are good at it

Exam Week

This is my final week of classes before exam week, so I probably won't have a ton of posts.  But don't worry, that just means that summer is coming and there will be a lot more from me (:  Instead, I'll leave you with some of my favorite Pinterest finds as of late.

Have a fabulous week!

Remember my in progress projects from here? Well, one of them is done.
Here they are...pretty poms all ready to go on a headband (:

The pile of them makes me so happy
As for the other in progress...well I made a toga out of it for a toga party, but I'm planning on making it into a real dress when I have time between all my final projects/papers.

What I Wore Wednesday: 3

I'm a little embarrassed...this has apparently been the week of the ponytail for me (which I normally never do).  But, here it goes.
Friday: Reading tutoring
top: Target kid's section (hence why it's so short and needs a tank underneath)
belt: Target
jeans: American Eagle
boots: gift
Sunday: Panhel and sorority meetings
It was FINALLY warm (: (:
dress: La Posh style
bracelets: gift
sandals: New York and Co.
Tuesday: Class and teaching at Head Start
sweater: Macy's
jeans: American Eagle
flats: Target
Wednesday: Class
shirt: Kohl's...appliqu├ęd by me
earrings: H&M
jeans: American Eagle
flip flops: Old Navy

Conclusion...
1. I think I may get my hair cut soon.
2. Also, if you read my first week WIWW, you'd know that one of my reasons for doing this is to become more confident in having pictures taken (even if it is self-done) of myself.  I do already feel a little better about it, but still fairly awkward.
3. If you notice the change from Friday to Sunday...boots to a strapless dress and sandals...that's what living in Michigan will do to you!

Warm Weather is Here!!

Today the temperature got into the 80s!! Oh my word...after wishing I owned a parka last week, even yesterday.  Such a quick temperature change...I hope it stays this way (:
Almost time for Chicago trips...

and beach days...
and pool time...
and cookouts that lead to fires (minus the fire)...
I can't wait

Free Rice: Ending Hunger

Every day in my Freshman Writing class we would play this vocabulary game.  I've just recently discovered it again.  You answer different questions and for each that you get right they donate 10 grains of rice to help end hunger.  Now, that might not seem like a lot, but play for a minute and it'll add up.
Play here.

If English isn't your thing...you can play other subjects. Check them out here

A minute a day can help.

In Progress

I've been working on a couple projects lately...here's a little sneak peek.

It's almost the end of the semester...so it's been hard to find time to work on things. But, it also means that summer is soon, and summer = lots of craft-time and catching up on scrapbooking (I'm super far behind).

What I Wore Wednesday: 2

Last week I started participating in What I Wore Wednesday.  You can take a look here.  It's a little more difficult to remember to take a picture each day than I thought it would be...I already missed a day, oh well.
So, without further ado, here's this weeks WIWW.

Thursday: class & teaching at Head Start
sweater: H&M
necklace: made by me
belt: The Limited
jeans: American Eagle
flats: Forever 21
Friday: reading tutoring & kindergarten
top: Express
skirt: Urban Outfitters
earrings: gift from a friend's trip to Africa
belt: Target
flats: Target
Saturday: sorority 5k fundraiser (and no, I didn't run in this...haha)
sweatshirt: sorority
jeans: American Eagle
boots: gift
Sunday: Panhel meeting & sorority meeting
top: Express (as seen before...but it was too cold to wear my short sleeve one, so I had to repeat)
skirt: England
shoes: gift
Monday: class
polo: American Eagle
jeans: American Eagle
boots: same as before...it's been really cold around here
headband: made by me
Wednesday: "Ribbons of Excellence" day...meaning no class, but lots of presentations to go support friends at.
top: Macy's
jeans: American Eagle
necklace: made by me
boots: I can't wait until I can wear sandals!!

Verdict: I need to start wearing some things that I haven't in a while...maybe I can refashion some of it.  And I really need to figure out different ways to do my hair...

Cell Phone Case Covering

I've been sick of my cell phone case for a while now...It's just clear and so boring.  So when I found this tutorial, I immediately had to try it.
Here are my results:

I did a few things differently from the tutorial because my phone case is two different pieces and rounded on the edges...so here are a few tips from my experience.
I made sure the fabric was the right size and placed where I wanted it on the fabric...and then cut it to fit the part of the case that goes over top of the other.
I put the fabric on the whole case, and then used an exacto knife to cut out the holes...I have quite a few.
I pleated the corners and then cut off the excess before mod-podgeing (is that a word? oh well) it down
And here are the two halves drying.

Now my phone is much more stylish (:
